  • Text message-based interventions were the most effective.
  • Middle-aged individuals benefited more than younger ones.

A study published in Nature Human Behavior, led by researchers at Sichuan University, investigated the effectiveness of digital interventions for smoking cessation. The research, which analyzed 152 randomized controlled trials, found that personalized and group-customized technology-based programs significantly improved smoking cessation rates compared to standard care. Text message-based interventions proved to be the most effective among various technology types, and middle-aged individuals showed a better response than younger populations. These findings highlight the potential of digital interventions to address the limitations of conventional smoking cessation programs.
