  • Amazon is adding on-demand short-form local and national news clips to Prime Video.
  • The clips will appear in the app’s News destination under Trending Topics and Local News carousels.
  • The news clips are initially for TVs and other living-room devices, with web and mobile availability planned next.
  • Amazon said existing Prime Video news offerings remain available in the U.S. even without a Prime subscription.
  • The move follows similar short-form clip launches from Peacock, HBO Max, Netflix, and Disney+.

Amazon is adding on-demand short-form local and national news clips to Prime Video. The clips will live in the app’s News destination, including Trending Topics and Local News carousels, and are launching first on TVs and other living-room devices. Amazon said the feature will later expand to the web and Prime Video’s mobile apps, though it has not confirmed whether mobile clips will use a vertical format. The move places Prime Video alongside other streamers that have recently introduced short-form video as they try to attract younger audiences who increasingly get news through apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
