KORTUC is launching a clinical study testing KRC-01, an experimental treatment using hydrogen peroxide to boost oxygen levels in tumors before radiation therapy, aiming to make radiation more effective. Tumor hypoxia, or low oxygen levels in tumors, reduces radiation's impact, causing treatment resistance; KRC-01 aims to temporarily increase oxygen within the tumor. The Phase 1/2 trial will involve 70 cervical cancer patients across international hospitals, evaluating safety and tumor control by comparing patients receiving KRC-01 with those receiving standard treatment. If successful, this approach could improve radiation sensitivity, potentially allowing lower doses and expanding to other cancers.
