European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot and NASA astronaut Anil Menon completed a 6-hour, 23-minute spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Aug. 18. During the excursion, Adenot became the first French woman to perform a spacewalk. The pair successfully removed a failed Space-to-Ground communications antenna but ran out of time before installing its replacement. The repair is important because the antenna system helps astronauts relay critical information between the station and Mission Control on Earth.
