- •Al Dram said he revived a long-held idea for automated building-design documents after generative AI tools became available.
- •Blueprints AI trained its models on eight years of approved drawing sets from Dram's architecture and construction firm.
- •The first product generates architectural construction documents and is priced from $3,200 to $8,500 per month, with enterprise pricing available.
- •The second version can generate coordinated building plans across multiple disciplines and update the full project when one design change is made.
- •The company targets architecture, engineering, and design firms as well as developers and real estate owners.
- •The founders said the software does not replace licensed architects, who still review and seal permit documents.
Blueprints AI is a Santa Monica startup founded by architect Al Dram and co-founder Coco Cao that uses AI to generate code-compliant construction blueprints from sketches, PDFs, or text descriptions. The company says its second-generation software can create coordinated plans across architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design, while propagating design changes across the whole project and checking them against local codes. Dram says the goal is to automate repetitive drafting work so architects can spend more time on design rather than document production. The startup, selected for TechCrunch Disrupt's Startup Battlefield 200, says licensed architects still review and seal the documents before permit submission.
