SpaceX and Louisiana officials announced plans for a $100 billion Starbase Louisiana in Vermilion Parish on the Gulf Coast. The project would include five launch complexes with 10 total Starship pads, onsite propellant production, power generation, shipping access and other processing infrastructure. SpaceX says the site is intended to support a major increase in Starship launch cadence for lunar missions, Starlink deployment and other future uses, with construction expected to start in 2027 and a first launch targeted for 2029. Officials also said the project could create about 3,000 direct jobs over the next decade and will undergo work with wildlife and coastal agencies on environmental impacts.
