Scientists are sounding the alarm over a series of unprecedented attacks on science by the Trump administration, which has taken office for a second term. Within hours of being sworn in on 20 January, Trump signed dozens of executive orders that have already had a chilling effect on the research community. These include withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement, terminating the nation's membership in the World Health Organization, and banning federal actions that promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology.
