Slovenia and Venezuela are the first two countries to lose all of their glaciers in a period of climate change induced by people. Slovenia likely lost its last glaciers more than three decades ago, and Venezuela's last glacier disappeared in 2016. The loss of these glaciers and those to follow will carry heavy environmental consequences, including rising global sea levels.
