JWST Spots Giant Spiral Galaxy Shockingly Early in Cosmic History

A new study using data from the James Webb Space Telescope has discovered a giant spiral galaxy, nicknamed the “Big Wheel,” that existed just two billion years after the big bang. The galaxy is five times more massive and twice as large as our Milky Way galaxy, and its discovery challenges long-held ideas about how galaxies form.
