NASA is launching a mission to study powerful electrical currents that flow above Earth's poles. The Electrojet Zeeman Imaging Explorer (EZIE) mission will launch three suitcase-sized satellites, called cubesats, in March. The mission will use a new measurement technique called the Zeeman technique to study the strength and direction of the magnetic fields created by the electrojets. The EZIE mission will also tap into the power of citizen scientists to enhance its research.
