India’s Varaha bags $20M to scale carbon removal from the Global South

Varaha, an India-based climate tech startup, has secured $20 million in funding as part of its $45 million Series B round, led by WestBridge Capital. The company aims to scale carbon removal projects in the Global South, offering lower-cost verified emissions reductions. Varaha focuses on execution-based models across regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, biochar, and enhanced rock weathering, working with smallholder farmers and industrial partners. The startup has signed long-term agreements with global buyers like Google and Microsoft, with plans to expand into new markets and launch an Industrial Partners Program.
