- •The exemption would enable a commercial robotaxi service.
Zoox, the Amazon-owned autonomous vehicle company, has requested a federal exemption to commercially deploy its custom-built robotaxis, which lack traditional controls. This request follows the recent launch of a free robotaxi service in Las Vegas and a previous exemption for public road demonstrations. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reviewing the application, which would expand the scope of the August exemption. If granted, the exemption would allow Zoox to launch a commercial robotaxi service.
